We posted Asif’s story on our social media page on 20th of June 2025. Here is how it went.
This brother’s name is Muhammad Asif. We are looking for Asif’s biological family.
It has been reported that Muhammad Asif was abducted from the shrine of Imam Bari Sarkar (In Islamabad) in 1992. He was sleeping between his parents at the shrine during the night when someone took him while his parents were asleep and later sold him.
The name Asif might have been given to him later — at the time he was kidnapped, he was an infant.
Asif still holds a faint glimmer of hope in his heart that you might share his post on your page. Even though there is hardly any information, he wants to try his luck — who knows, he might find his blood relatives.
If this post is shared across the country, especially throughout Punjab, something might come of it.
If anyone among your relatives or acquaintances lost a child at the shrine of Imam Bari Sarkar in 1992, please contact the number below. This might be their child.
A DNA test can be done to confirm.
We asked our friends to help us find his parents.

We honestly thought that this is an impossible case.
It was a shot in the dark.
And then
We got a hit…
A family from Gujranwala contacted us. They claimed that they lost their child in 1992 in Imam Bari Sarkar.
It was exciting but it wasn’t definitive. We asked them if they were prepared to undergo a DNA paternity test. They readily agreed. They paid for their own sample. We paid on behalf of Asif.
We decided to share the update with our friends (after all they are the ones who do the real work)
And then we got the DNA result (From Germany)
It was a match
Asif (Original name Siddique) was the son of this family from Gujranwala.
We got an offer from the biggest Pakistani news channel (Geo News) to participate in their flagship show Jirga, hosted by renowned anchor and host, Mr. Saleem Safi.
We took Asif’s case to the show. Both sides consented to meet for the first time at the Geo News studios in Islamabad. Asif came from Sargodha along with his wife and brother in law and a few of his friends. The parents, Asif’s siblings (and a large entourage of other family members) came from Gujranwala.
Watch the rest yourself for words fail to express what happened next.
And here is the full Jirga show on Geo News
Before coming on the show, we also recorded an exclusive with the parents
So how did Asif fare during all these years? Who rescued him from the kidnappers and then raised him as his own. Watch our exclusive interview with Mr. Mehr Umar, a lawyer by profession.
After spending some days with his parents in Gujranwala, Asif comes back to where he grew up, in Sargodha, along with his newly found family members.
