Maryam Abbasi from Hyderabad, India was married to Saleh Mohammad Naaji, in 1983, who was a Yemeni. They initially settled in Qatar where the husband used to drive a taxi. She used to send letters and photographs from Qatar to her family in India. After a couple of years they moved to Yemen and soon all contact was lost.
Syed Zeeshan Ahmad, her brother in India contacted us. We asked him to send us a voice note. He shared a few photographs and some names. Watch the video below of how our search started.
A Pakistani migrant in Saudi Arabia saw the video and showed it to a Yemeni friend. That friend contacted Mr. Muhammad Al Muhammadi, a journalist in from Yemen and requested him to help search for Yemen. He interviewed me on live TV and I shared all the data related to Maryam. The next day, we found Maryam in Yemen on 17th August.
I received a call on my phone. The gentleman identified himself as Muhammad, son of Maryam. He said he is calling from Qatar. He was overcome with emotions.
